Today members and other pellet victims staged a silent protest here on Thursday to express their anguish against the apathetic approach of state authorities.
Speaking on the occasion the Secy. association Mr. Altaf Ahmed said that pellet victims and other those injured during 2016 are facing immense problems. the number of pellet victims is increasing with every passing day as there is no letup in the use of lethal weapon.
Though this weapon has been declared lethal by international community and even India too is a signatory to the declaration, however authorities are reluctant to stop this, added he.
Disclosing the woeful tale of pellet victims Mr. Altaf said that we are moving from pillar to post. No suitable and specific treatment is available here. The number of pellets and infection thereof is taking a heavy toll of our eyesight.
Most of the pellet victims though undergone several surgeries, still need more treatment and surgeries.
Many of the pellet victims received treatment outside state, however huge expenses have made it impossible and difficult to meet expenses and follow up is even more expensive as we belong to poor families.
We are facing immense problems. We can’t recognize our relatives, our family members. We can’t pursue our education nor we can spend a normal life. We are handicapped and no one is there to consider our miseries, said Mr. Altaf Ahmad.
The expenses are heavy and administration is not providing any assistance, said Mr. Altaf instead some NGO help but they can’t bear huge expenses on surgeries, medicine, follow-up and post-surgery care.
We demand that state administration should come with a special treatment and assistance scheme for us as it is very difficult even to earn a single penny as we are now handicapped and even can’t move out of our home without assistance of our family members.
We appeal society to join us, feel our pain and come to our help and rescue, said, Mr.Altaf
