Kashmir celebrating Eid-ul-Fitar; Thousands attend Eid prayers in Kashmir

Srinagar: Thousands of Muslims across State offered Eid-ul-fitr prayers on Monday at the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
As per the reports available with Kashmir Age, large number of people attended congregational Eid prayers on different Masjids and Shrines across the State where scholars and clerics throw light on the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr. The biggest gathering of the devotees were witnessed at Hazratbal Shrine where nearly 70,000 people offer congregational prayers.
More than 40.000 Muslims attended Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Markazi Eid-Gah at Duderhama and Beehama of Ganderbal district early morning on Monday.
There were large Eid prayers at shrines and Masjids of Kangan, Gund, Kullan, Lar, Manigam, Benhama, Wayil, Nunar, Safapora, Baroosa, Tullamulla, Sumbal and adjoining areas of central Ganderbal.
Large number of people were also witnessed at other places in the Summer capital Srinagar, where hundreds of people attend Eid pray at Polo ground Srinagar.
After the prayers, the imams recited an Eid-ul-fitr sermon and asked Muslims to heed the lessons of generosity and obedience learnt during Ramadan for the rest of the year.
In Markazi Jamia Masjid Manigan, Jama,at district president Gul Mohammad War recited sermon and asked Muslims to pay Zakat so that the poor could also enjoy the Eid celebration, he congratulated everyone after the successful Ramadan and urged people to observe the festival with simplicity and appealed not to forget victims besides widows, orphans and other needy while celebrating the gracious occasion.
After the prayers, people were visit their relatives to extend Eid greetings.
Pertinently, Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, marking the culmination of month-long Ramadan. Shawwal is the 10th month of the lunar Islamic calendar.
Eid is a day of joy and thanksgiving. Muslims celebrate the day by thanking Almighty Allah for bestowing them with the blessings of Ramadan. They prepare delicacies, wear new clothes, give each other gifts and put up lights and other decorations in their homes.
Meanwhile, a day before Eid-ul-Fitr, markets in the summer capital and elsewhere were abuzz with shoppers. People were seen buying clothes and other things apart from food and bakery items.
As per the officials the district administrations have made all necessary arrangements for devotees. There was reporting of protests in some parts of Kashmir after Eid prayers.
