Hundreds of vehicles stranded on highway, bypass in Srinagar
SRINAGAR: Hundreds of vehicles got stranded on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and bypass at Pantha Chowk, where people blocked the main road in protest against the security forces, for beating a driver.
Traffic police confirmed that traffic on the highway and Pantha Chowk-north Kashmir has been disrupted due to protests.
‘We could not divert the traffic through alternative Sammar Bugh and Lasjan as the demonstrators have blocked these roads also, ‘ a police official said here.
Troubled started when security forces allegedly beat up a driver, who took some time to stop his vehicle when asked to stop at Pantha Chowk for searches.
People, including drivers from the nearby bus stand and passengers, blocked the main highway road and bypass to north Kashmir. (UNI)
