Light vehicular traffic resumes from both sides on Kashmir highway

SRINAGAR: After clearing the vehicles stranded at various places on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel, fresh light vehicular traffic was allowed to ply from both sides on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway connecting Kashmir valley with rest of the country since early this morning.
However, heavy vehicles will be allowed to move only from Jammu to Srinagar on the highway today.
“We allowed fresh light vehicular traffic from both the sides after all the vehicles, including carrying Amarnath yatris, stranded at various places on the highway were cleared,” a traffic official said.
But, he said the cutoff time for Jammu bound vehicles to pass Jawahar Tunnel was 1200 hrs.
“After that no vehicle will be allowed from Srinagar to Jammu,” he said.   (UNI)
