SRINAGAR: Three militants were killed in a fierce encounter by security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said here this afternoon.
Police also confirmed that three militants were killed and the operation was going on when the reports last came in.
Sources said security forces, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Gulab Bagh, Tral, in Pulwama district following a tip off about the presence of militants.
During the search operation militants hiding there resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, they said adding security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter three militants were killed.
Though the firing has stopped but the operation was going on when the reports last came in. (UNI)
