Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday said elaborate arrangements have been put in place for peaceful Muharram observances across the Valley.
Quick response teams have been stationed along all procession routes, with health teams and district administrations deployed following detailed consultations with Muharram committees. The administration has prepared a comprehensive plan covering the 1st, 8th and 10th Muharram observances.
Garg noted that Muharram this year coincides with the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and a busy tourist season, calling for collective responsibility from the administration, media, volunteers and the public to manage all activities simultaneously.
He urged residents to follow traffic management plans, cooperate with district advisories, and extend a warm welcome to pilgrims and tourists. "Muharram observances continue for around 40 to 50 days and require collective responsibility from all stakeholders," he said.
The Divisional Commissioner expressed confidence in Kashmir's tradition of peaceful observances and said preparations for the Amarnath Yatra have been further strengthened this year, with hopes of greater devotee participation.
