NCERT carry out National Achievement Survey, conducts exam

Ganderbal : To find out the “standard” of education provided to students of basic education schools across the country, for the first time, NCERT carry out the National Achievement Survey(NAS) by conducting an exam on Monday. As many as 36 lakh students from 1.20 lakh schools take the exam in four subjects — language, mathematics, environmental science and social science. Students of Class III, Class V and Class VIII sit in the exam.

Students of as many as 108 schools in Ganderbal sit  for the exams. “Exams were conducted for Class III and V and for Class VIII in which as many as 1914 students sit in the Exams and 259 FieldField Investigators were put on the job to conduct the examination in the district Ganderbal.

DIET Ganderbal in collaboration with CEO office Ganderbal conducted the examination in the district, proper arrangements were made and supervisory teams were framed for fair exam.

The report of this survey will clear the picture of education standard in basic education schools. On the basis of the NAS report, NCERT and government will decide on future policies to improve the standard of basic education.”

“The answer sheets will be collected and sent to NCERT for further survey of the education being imparted at the district level so that a survey can be done and steps be taken to improve whatever drawbacks are found,” said an officer of the district.
