127 persons held in drugs related crime during last 6 months in Goa
Panaji, Dec 15 : Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed State Legislative Assembly on Thursday that 127 persons were arrested in connection with crime related to drugs while 45 have persons were sent behind bars for crime related to prostitution during the last six months in Goa.
In a written reply to a question tabled by Congress MLA from Curtorim Aleixo Lourenco, the chief minister said due to effective policing and better staffing, 112 cases were under NDPS Act (The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and 24 cases under acts to check prostitution.
He said that no case was reported on the nexus between police and criminals.
”Government has framed a Anti Narcotic Task Force committee comprising of members of various law enforcement agencies for better cooperation and coordination and exchange of intelligence and to drawan action plan for combat trafficking of drugs,” he said.
