The Jammu and Kashmir Cyber Crime Department has issued a public advisory warning citizens against rising online fraud, phishing links, OTP scams and fake calls being used by cyber criminals to access personal and financial information.
Officials advised the public to avoid clicking on unknown links, never share OTPs, enable Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp and verify unfamiliar numbers before responding. They warned that scammers often pose as bank representatives, government officials or customer care agents to deceive victims.
Citizens have been urged to report cyber fraud immediately to police, through the National Cyber Crime Portal or on helpline number 1930, as prompt reporting improves chances of blocking suspicious transactions.
