China says will settle disputes with neighbours through talks
Beijing, Jan 31 : China will play a constructive role in resolving regional hotspot issues and settle territorial and maritime disputes with neighbours through talks this year, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said.
In remarks at a New Year reception in the Chinese capital, Wang outlined the country’s diplomacy for 2018 on Tuesday and said China would “broaden cooperation and narrow differences” with its neighbours to jointly build a “community of shared future” in Asia.
“China will continue to play a constructive role in resolving regional hotspot issues, and promote settling disputes and conflicts through dialogues and consultation,” he said, adding that China’s preference for dialogue and partnership over confrontation and alliance has opened up exciting possibilities for this new approach to state-to-state relations.
Addressing foreign diplomats to the country, Wang said China will further promote the Belt and Road construction this year.
“We have forged greater synergy for the Belt and Road Initiative. (UNI)
