DM appoints enquiry officer to ascertain causes of death of person in police custody in Jammu
JAMMU, FEB 07 : District Magistrate Jamm, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan (IAS) appoint Mohd Alyas Khan Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu north as enquiry officer to conduct an enquiry into the death of Subash Chander and to ascertain the causes of death of the deceased person.
He has also asked enquiry officer to submit report within four weeks positively. The official statement issued reads,” Whereas on7-2-2018 sub divisional magistrate jammu north vide his latter no. SDM/JN/R/2018/853-054 dated 7-2-18 reported that deputy superintendent of Police Jammu has intimated that one Mr Subash Chander @ kaka S/o Amar Nath, caste Mahasha R/o Shivalik Puram Janipur Colony Jammu who was arrsted in case FIR No. 11/2018U/S 452/376/RPC of Police Station Janipur Jammu was under remand for ten days WEF 3-2-18 to 12-2-2018“.
The statements further reads, “Where as on 7-2-2018 at 3AM the said accused person (Subash Hander caste Mahasha complained of uneasiness and was taken to GMC Jammu in police vehicle where doctor declared him dead and whereas a medical board of Doctors has been constituted for conduct of Post mortem and whereas it is matter of concern that the death has accursed during the police custody and it becomes mandatory for this office to ascertain the causes of death of the accused person”.
“In view of the above facts I Kumar Rajeev Ranjan (IAS) District Magistrate Jammu with the powers vested in me under section 176 of CrPC appoint Mohd Alyas Khan Sub Divisional Magistrate Jammu north as enquiry officer to conduct an enquiry into the matter and to ascertain the causes of death of the deceased person and submit his report within four weeks positively”, the statement added.
