KU disobey Raj Bawan’s order; holds interviews  

 Srinagar: Despite the Governor barring incumbent Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, not to conduct interviews or take any policy decisions, the varsity authorities are conducted interviews for Assistant Professor as well as internal promotions without seeking approval from the Chancellor.

However, experts from outside the Valley along with the university authorities conducted interviews for multiple vacant posts.

On January 25, principal secretary to Governor, Umang Narula, sent a circular to Vice Chancellors of Kashmir and Jammu universities asking them not to take policy decisions or make fresh appointments for teaching and non-teaching staff without seeking consent from the Governor.

 

The order read, “In the context of the tenure of VC, University of Kashmir having already come to end and that of VC, University of Jammu, shortly coming to an end I am desired to convey directions that no decision in regard to any policy matter or relating to selection/appointments to various senior vacant posts (teaching/non-teaching) should be taken without seeking the prior written approval from the office of the Chancellor”.

According to a order No: F/Asstt Prof-Interview/ KU Rec/18 Kashmir University says “Interview of the candidates who have applied for the position of Assistant Professor,

Hindi with post code PGD-HI-1 notified vide Advertisement Notice No. V of 2016 dated June 30, 2016, in the Department of Hindi, shall be held in the Committee room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, University Campus, Hazratbal, Srinagar, on 10-02-2018 at 10:30 am.

However, Vice Chancellor and Registrar were not available for their comments.
