Police rescues man trapped under landslide-hit road in Kishtwar

Jammu, Mar 2 : Police on Friday rescued a man trapped under a landslide-hit road at Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

”Police have averted a major tragedy, in which a person trapped in the huge rocks of a landslide was saved harmlessly on Friday,” Kishtwar SSP Abrar Ahmed Chowdhary here said.

Information was received that at Fagumarh village, which is 15 km towards Thathri from Kishtwar, a person has been trapped in his car under the huge rocks, Mr Chowdhary said, adding that police parties reached the spot and took control of the area and procured the JCBs with professional drivers on both the sides.

”The Red Cross team of the district also reached the spot, while police used the JCBs and after cutting and pushing the rocks few meters in length and many feet in width, the trapped youth was rescued,” said the SSP.

The rescued person was identified as Liaqat Ali, resident of Gurrien area in Kishtwar.
