Veena Pandita appointed chairman JKBOSE
First women to hold charge till date
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday appointed Veena Pandita as Chairperson Board of School Education (BOSE).
Pandita was earlier acting as officiating Chairperson of BOSE following the repatriation of Zahoor Ahmad Chatt to his parent department, Higher Education, in August last year.
According to the order issued by secretary school education department, Farooq Ahmad Shah, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 12 of the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education Act 1975 (Act No. XXVIII of 1975) and in supersession of notification SRO 330 dated August 9 of 2017 or any other notification issued in this behalf, the government hereby appoints Professor Veena Pandita, secretary JK BOSE as Chairman, JK BOSE for a period of two years from the date of issuance of this notification.” Meanwhile, Veena Pandita has thanked Education Minister Altaf Bukhari and Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah.
She further insisted that she will promote healthy work culture in the BOSE. She vowed to bring transparency and to bring latest technology in the education sector which boost the good results. She termed it the biggest achievement for her to be the first women to become chairman of State Board of School Education. It is pertinent to mention here that Veena Pandita is a gold medalist in the year 1981 from Kashmir University in the field of Commerce. She was first posted at Nawakadal College as an Commerce Lecturer and after which she served many other colleges in the state. In 2014 she was appointed as Secretary Board of School Education and after delivering promising service for three years. She was given temporary charge of chairman and today she was promoted as BOSE chairman.
