800 FIRs, 950 Arrests in 45 Days: LG on Narco-Terror in J&K

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said narco-terrorism and drug abuse pose the biggest threat to Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the administration will not rest until the menace is completely eradicated.

Addressing a padyatra at SK Stadium Bandipora under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Sinha said around 800 FIRs have been registered, nearly 950 people arrested and about 850 cases registered under the PIT-NDPS Act over the past 45 days. Properties are being attached and driving licences and passports seized against drug peddlers.

The LG reiterated that funds from drug trafficking reach terror networks, aggravating the security situation, and called the anti-drug drive a mission rather than a campaign. He also stressed counselling and rehabilitation for addicts, saying youth caught in drug abuse are victims who must be helped.
