State (Bengal) Election Commission is Mamata election commission: Javadekar
Kolkata, Jun 2 :Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday dubbed the state (West Bengal)
Election Commission as “Mamata election commission and charged the ruling Trinamool Congress
with murdering democracy in West Bengal.
Addressing the reporters at Press Club, he also accused the TMC of resorting to political murder only to muzzle the voice of the Opposition.
The HRD Minister condemning the political murders, including recent killing of two party members in tribal district of Purulia said the ruling TMC had made three-pronged attacks on the three-tier Panchayat poll to crush democracy blatantly.
The TMC did not allow the Opposition to file nomination papers and ensured no Opposition candidate could campaign and voters could exercise franchise and finally the party did not allow the officials to count ballot papers.
Mr Javadekar charged the TMC with murdering two of its party members – Trilochan Mahto and Dulal Das – in Purulia, where both bodies were hung to create fear-psychosis among the
common people.
He claimed that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has made mockery of the democratic system and turned the election commission in the state a tool of the party.
