3 persons from Maharashtra drown in sea in Goa
Panaji, Jun 11 : Three persons from Maharashtra drowned in sea in North Goa on Monday.
According to Calangute Police Station incharge Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi,
a group of 14 persons , all residents from Mothi Umbri, Vitthal Nagar, Akola, Maharashtra, had come to Goa in morning by train and had got down at Margao Railway Station at around 0400 hrs.
They took a taxi and reached at Calangute beach in North Goa at around 0600 hrs.
Upon reaching Calangute beach all immediately entered in the sea at Calangute beach. But a strong current pulled five of them inside the sea. However, while others came out after around 20 minutes, three persons could be seen on the shore.
Later with the help of other people the three persons were fished to the shore. However, they were already dead.
A 108 ambulance was called upon and all the three dead bodies were shifted to PHC Candolim for further. Formalities and inquest panchanama were done.
Two deceased were brothers namely Pritesh Lankeshwae Nanda Gawali ( 32), police constable, Chetan Lankeshwae Nanda Gawali (27 ), student, and Ujwal Prakash Vakode ( 25), mechanic.
All were residents of Mothi Umbri, Vitthal Nagar, Akola, Maharashtra.
The other two persons namely Kiran Omprakash Mhaske and Shubham Gajanan Vaidya were missing from the sea waters and police were still searching for them in the sea along with the life guards, Mr Dalvi said.
