Police foils bid of two Kashmiri youth to decamp with INSAS rifles
Jammu, Jun 11 : Police foiled a bid of two Kashmiri youth, attempting to decamp with stolen INSAS rifles along with magazines, from a police post in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Monday.
“Two youth during wee hours fired two shots at security personnel deployed at a check point from the INSAS Rifles they had stolen from the Shahdara Police Post,” a senior police official here told UNI.
He said that the boys had stolen the weapons along with the magazines, while no injury has been reported in the firing and the duo has been taken into custody.
The arrested were identified as Mukhtar Ahmed(22) of New Colony, Safanagri (Zainapura) Shopian and Aijaz Ahmed Paaray (22), resident of Keshva, Chitragama, Shopian, Kashmir.
“They are reportedly suspected militants with possibilities of having links with local Hizbul Mujaheedin outfit,” said a police official.
“We are investigating the matter,” he added.
