IAS officers’ ‘strike’ row: Kejriwal continues sit-in protest

New Delhi, June 19  : Continuing his sit-in protest at Raj Niwas for the ninth consecutive day over IAS officers ‘’strike’’ and approval of the ‘doorstep delivery’ of ration, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that they had written to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal seeking a meeting of all stakeholders and waiting for his response.
“We wrote a letter to Hon’ble LG yesterday seeking meeting of all stakeholders. We are awaiting response from Hon’ble LG,” the Chief Minister said in a tweet.
Claiming that Mr Baijal was awaiting for ‘’green signal’’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has to take the decision, Mr Kejriwal said, “Whole Delhi waiting for Hon’ble PM to decide fast.”
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister expressed hope that LG finds some time to meet him.
Mr Kejriwal along with his colleague Gopal Rai have been camping at Raj Niwas over these issues since Monday last. However, their other two colleagues – Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who had sat on indefinite fast with them, were hospitalised after their health condition deteriorated.
“Eight days of wait to meet Hon’ble LG. Deputy Chief Minister (Manish Sisodia) and UD Minister (Satyendar Jain) shifted to hospital due to bad health. Hon’ble LG could not find eight minutes in eight days for the people of Delhi. Hope he finds some time today,” the Chief Minister said.
On Monday, Mr Kejriwal had urged Mr Baijal to call a meeting of the elected government and IAS officers’ at the earliest after the Association of the IAS Officers of AGMUT (Arunachal, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) expressed its willingness for formal discussions with him on this matter.
