Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury meets Partha ; Controversy arises in AICC

Kolkata, Jun 29 :  The All India Congress Committee (AICC) today clarified that it has not authorised any WBPCC leader to start a dialogue with West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress for a “grand alliance” ( mahajot), a day after Congress leader and MP from Malda Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury ( Dalu) called on AITC secretary general Partha Chatterjee for a possible tie up against BJP before 2019 parliament polls.
Malda strongman and Congress leader Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury and the party’s Farakka MLA Mainul Haque had called on Trinamool Congress secretary-general Partha Chatterjee at his Naktala home in south Kolkata on Thursday and claimed he went to talk on the “mahajote” at the state level.
However, there had been no official talk from the Mamata Banerjee led AITC on the issue.
AITC spokesman Ritzu Ghosal in a statement today said ” AICC has not authorised any leader in west Bengal to start a dialogue with AITC for an alleged grand alliance,”
” The party in West Bengal under the leadership of Adhir Ranjan Chwdhury (MP) has not forwarded with any intimation as to start dialogue with AITC by AICC. Whatever was done has been done purely on personal capacity. WBPCC has not initiated any such dialogue not has been advised to do so by the Congress President :’ the statement added.
In the political circle in West Bengal there had been talks that three times MP from Malda ( South) Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury and some of his followers and Congress
MLAs may join the AITC by next month.
Denying any such move at present, Mr Choudhury said he had gone to discuss on possible grand alliance with the AITC in the state to combat the BJP in 2019 general elections.
