Srinagar, July 04 : Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached Srinagar today on a 2-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir. He is accompanied by Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, National Security advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Official sources told KNS that soon after landing in Srinagar, Rajnath joined by Doval met Governor NN Vohra and his Advisors-BB Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ganai and get a brief on security situation in Jammu and Kashmir especially the Valley.
Sources said that a special review was held for Amarnath Yatra security arrangements.
“Top officers briefed the Home Minister on the security measures in place for the yatris.”
“Rajnath Singh will visit Amarnath Cave tomorrow and review security measures on spot,” sources maintained.
Official sources further said that Governor NN Vohra, will brief the Union Home Minister on arrangements made for the pilgrims at base camp of Jammu, forward base camps of Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal, twin tracks and the cave shrine.
Sources said the militancy-related situation in the Kashmir Valley will also be reviewed by the Union Home Minister and the National Security Advisor.
It is to mention here that earlier the Home Minister was received at the Technical Airport here by Advisors to the Governor, B B Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Sehrish Asgar and senior officers of the paramilitary forces.
