Tributes paid to policeman, first militancy victim in 2019

Srinagar, Jan 2: Rich tributes were paid to Special Police Officer (PSO) of Jammu and Kashmir police who attained martyrdom when unidentified gunmen shot him in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Tuesday evening.
A police spokesman said SPO Sameer Ahmad Mir was critically injured when some unidentified gunmen fired at him from very close range at Hanjan, Pulwama last evening. The injured was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.
Later a wreath laying ceremony was held late in the evening at District Police Lines (DPL), Pulwama where Director General of Police (DGP) interacted with Police Personnel and also chaired a security review meeting earlier during the day.
Senior police and security force officers, led by Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pulwama, laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains of SPO. Rich tributes were also paid to SPO, who is survived by parents and two brothers.
