Covid Status: FIR registered against family for misleading doctors

Kangan, Aug 27, KNT: Ten health professional including 2 lady doctors were home quarantined after a family mislead them about the Covid status of a pregnant lady at Sub District Hospital Kangan here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Sources told news agency KNT that a pregnant lady from Ganderbal was undergoing treatment at the Maternity Hospital Soura and on August 25, when the woman underwent a corona test, her report came positive and her family members fled from the hospital and reached the Sub-District Hospital, Kangan for further treatment.

“When the lady doctor on duty at SDH sought Covid test report, the family showed the corona test report of August 18 and not of Aug 25, which was negative,” sources said adding the medical staff became suspicious when the family members didn’t touch the new born after the delivery.

The staff contacted the Maternity Hospital Soura, where she was told that the woman was infected with the Corona virus, which caused a stir among ten employees, including two lady doctors stationed at the operating theater, sources added.

When contacted Dr Shabir Ahmad Awan, I/C Medical Superintendent, Trauma Hospital, Kangan, he confirmed to KNT that the family of a pregnant woman from Tangpura Ganderbal had fled from the Maternity hospital Soura.

He said that the family members of the pregnant woman misled the doctors and provided them the August 18 Corona test, which was negative, but after the delivery, when the doctors became suspicious of their actions, truth surfaced.

MS said that now the patient and his family have been kept in quarantine and ten employees including two lady doctors of the sub-district hospital have also been quarantined.

Medical Superintendent said they have lodged an FIR against the family at police station Kangan.
