Prominent Islamic scholar Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami emphasized the importance of spiritual values and moral guidance while addressing a large Friday gathering at the Central Jamia Mosque in Gopalpora, Anantnag.
In his address, Allama Hami highlighted the exemplary lives of revered Kashmiri saints Baba Haider Reshi (Reshi Mol) and Hazrat Sheikh Dawood (Bata Mol), describing them as “shining stars of knowledge and spiritual excellence.” He noted that these saints hold a distinguished place among the great spiritual figures of the Kashmir Valley due to their deep knowledge, piety, and service to humanity.
Speaking on contemporary social challenges, Allama Hami stressed that a righteous and progressive society cannot be built through legal measures alone. He said that fostering spiritual awareness and ethical values—especially among the youth—is essential to curb crime and social evils. “A true transformation of society comes through a strong connection with spirituality,” he remarked.
The scholar also called for a complete ban on alcohol and stricter measures against drug abuse in the region. While appreciating recent actions taken by the administration to combat narcotics, he described such steps as necessary to protect society from both visible and hidden harms of substance abuse.
Allama Hami further stated that the teachings of saints like Reshi Mol and Bata Mol continue to inspire peace, unity, and moral integrity. He said their lives exemplify truthfulness, humility, and selfless service—values that are urgently needed in today’s times.
Concluding his address, he urged the community to follow the path shown by these spiritual leaders to promote harmony, eliminate hatred, and build a morally strong society.
