Rain, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Expected in J&K Through May 31

The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across the region on May 30 and 31, with the possibility of heavy rainfall, intense showers, and gusty winds at scattered locations.

According to the latest forecast, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy for the next two days. Authorities have urged residents, especially in hilly and vulnerable areas, to remain cautious as heavy rain may trigger landslides, mudslides, and even flash floods in isolated locations.

    May 30–31: Generally cloudy with spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected in most areas. A few places may experience heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and intense showers.

    June 1–2: Brief and isolated spells of light rain or thundershowers.

    June 4–6: Weather to remain mostly dry, though brief rain or showers may occur at isolated locations, particularly in the late afternoon.

Advisory for Public:

    There is a moderate to high chance of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds on May 30–31 at scattered places.

    People living in landslide-prone zones are advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel.

    Temporary flash floods may occur due to intense downpours.

    The public is urged to stay away from loose structures, electric poles, cables, and old trees during the adverse weather period.
