From the Land of Saints to the Mission of Purity: Hami Calls for Spiritual Revival in Kashmir

Renowned Islamic scholar and Patron of Karwan Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, delivered a powerful address to thousands of devotees at the concluding ceremony of the Urs of Piran-e-Pir, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) held at Khanyar, Srinagar, calling for a spiritual and moral revival in Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering, Allama Hami highlighted Kashmir’s timeless identity as a cradle of spirituality, wisdom, and Sufi enlightenment. “Kashmir has long been recognized across the world as the sacred abode of saints, Sufis, and righteous sages,” he said. “For centuries, seekers of divine truth have travelled thousands of miles to reach this blessed land, guided by the light of our spiritual legacy.”

He emphasized that all major Sufi orders, including the Qadri order, have flourished in Kashmir, nurturing hearts and minds and anchoring society in monotheistic devotion and ethical living.

Speaking on the universal legacy of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), Allama Hami stated that the revered saint established an enduring model of divine knowledge, mystical insight, and spiritual discipline. “Despite ideological differences, Sheikh Jeelani (RA) preserved the path of truth and countered false sects by presenting the pure message of the Qur’an and Sunnah,” he noted. “His words and actions continue to serve as a guiding light for every era.”
During the event, Allama Hami took a solemn pledge from thousands of young participants, urging them to join his awakening mission — a movement focused on combating drug addiction and restoring moral and spiritual values in society.

“The drug crisis has devastated countless families. Our youth — the very lights of our homes — are being consumed by this darkness,” he warned. “This is not just a social issue but a spiritual emergency that must be tackled with collective will and divine guidance.”

He affirmed that Karwan Islami International is actively working to revive the spiritual teachings of saints and to combat moral degradation. “The teachings of our saints offer timeless solutions to modern problems, including addiction,” he said.

Calling upon the youth and wider society, Allama Hami stressed the importance of staying connected to spiritual centers, Islamic teachings, and the legacy of the righteous (Salihin). He concluded by stating that restoring the lost purity and dignity of society can only be achieved through a renewed commitment to spiritual values, which form the true foundation of peace, harmony, and progress.
