Eid al-Fitr Symbolises Gratitude, Brotherhood: Allama Dr. Hami

Eminent Islamic scholar and Chief of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, on Friday said that Eid al-Fitr is a supreme manifestation of gratitude for divine blessings and a reflection of human brotherhood.

Addressing a large gathering at the Central Jamia Masjid in Arigam, Khansahib, on the last Friday of Ramadan, Hami emphasised that the true spirit of the holy month must continue beyond its conclusion.

He noted that while Ramadan fosters spiritual discipline, many people tend to abandon acts of worship, charity, and moral conduct once the month ends. “The decline in mosque attendance, neglect of charity, and return to unethical practices indicate a lack of understanding of Ramadan’s true essence,” he said.

Hami described Ramadan as a period of spiritual training aimed at instilling obedience to the teachings of Islam and cultivating lasting moral values. He urged believers to remain steadfast in repentance, remembrance of God, and purity of heart throughout the year.

Highlighting the significance of Eid al-Fitr, he said the festival teaches gratitude to Allah and promotes values of love, unity, and brotherhood. He added that Eid offers guidance on celebrating joy with dignity while fostering social harmony and tolerance.

The scholar stressed the importance of paying Sadaqat al-Fitr before Eid prayers, caring for neighbours and the underprivileged, and strengthening communal bonds by sharing happiness with others.

Hami also appealed to people to stay away from superstitions, un-Islamic innovations, and drug abuse, urging society to uphold ethical and spiritual values.

Extending Eid greetings to people across the world, he expressed hope that the occasion would bring an end to conflicts and promote peace and stability globally.
