Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Omar Abdullah-led government, alleging misgovernance, corruption and a disconnect from common people's concerns.
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister and his ministers, Sharma said they were more likely to be found on marathon tracks or Gulmarg's ski slopes than at the Civil Secretariat. He alleged the government was focused on protecting elite interests, citing the lease extension bill, while neglecting hospitals, roads and power supply for ordinary citizens.
On the liquor ban controversy, Sharma said Omar Abdullah's remarks reflected arrogance and a U-turn on poll promises. He also predicted the National Conference government would not last its full term, calling it a "sinking ship" whose members were desperate to leave but finding no takers.
