The BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, asking him to substantiate his allegation that the party was attempting to lure MLAs by offering ₹20–30 crore or issue a public apology.

Terming the remarks baseless and defamatory, the BJP warned that it would file a ₹100 crore defamation suit if he fails to provide evidence or withdraw his statement.

The controversy follows Omar Abdullah’s remarks at a National Conference workers’ meeting, where he alleged that the BJP was trying to engineer defections by offering large sums of money to legislators.
