State Taxes Department Kashmir Organizes Rangoli Making Competition

State Taxes Department Kashmir today organized Rangoli Making Competition as part of fortnight Celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on the theme “Meri Mati Mera Desh” at Excise and Taxation Complex, Solina Srinagar.

All the State Taxes Circles of Kashmir participated in the Competition.

In a remarkable display of exemplary leadership and environmental consciousness, the Commissioner State Taxes J&K, Dr. Rashmi Singh (IAS) accompanied by Additional Commissioner State Taxes Kashmir, Shakeel Maqbool Yatoo (ICAS) and DC Enforcement (Central) Kashmir visited all the in-house circles to witness first-hand the art of rangoli making. During the visit, the Commissioner encouraged all circles to embrace the use of organic materials for creating rangoli designs.

Rangoli, a traditional Indian art form, involves the creation of intricate and colorful designs on the ground using various materials like colored rice, flower petals, and organic powders. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of preserving this cherished tradition while being mindful of its ecological impact.

Later, Rangoli designed by DC Apeeals I&II was adjudged as the best in terms of material used and design selected.

The fortnight programme aims to commemorate the 76th Independence day and foster a spirit of unity and patriotism among the citizens.

The programme will be followed by Restoration drive at Doodhganga and cleanliness drive at Nilnag on 03 August 2023 in cooperation with the Mining Department.
