Russia-Ukraine War: AIP Welcomes Trump’s Call for Peace
The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) has welcomed the strong advice from former US President Donald Trump to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, urging him to bring an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
In a statement, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said, "While wars lead nowhere except death and destruction, who better than the people of Jammu and Kashmir understand the significance of peace in the region? We have suffered immensely due to the animosity between India and Pakistan."
He further added, "However, peace must be dignified, durable, and based on justice. The United States must seriously engage all stakeholders in South Asia to establish lasting peace in the region, where people of all casts, creeds, and religions can freely enjoy their rights."
Un Nabi emphasized that tough conversations, such as the one between Trump and Zelensky, offer valuable lessons for all. "It has been revealed that those in conflict zones must recognize that expecting others to fight for survival or rights is an illusion. Hate and warmongering will eventually collapse," he stated.
He also pointed out that the way Americans have moved past their animosity with Russia and left Afghanistan sends a crucial message to the world. "Peace has no shortcuts nor alternatives," he remarked.
Un Nabi concluded by stressing that the rulers of the Indian subcontinent must acknowledge that the future of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh lies in mutual co-existence, sustained dialogue, conflict resolution, and respect for the human rights of their citizens. "Donald Trump's direct talk with Zelensky proves once again that one cannot always survive like a parasite, dependent on the support of others," he added.
