12 Killed, Several Injured as Bus Skids Off Road in Udhampur

At least 12 people were killed and several others injured after a passenger bus skidded off the road in the Ramnagar area of Udhampur district on Monday, officials said.

An official said that soon after the incident, police, rescue teams, and locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur following the accident and assured that all possible assistance is being provided. He added that arrangements are being made to airlift the seriously injured and that he remains in constant touch with the local administration.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the tragedy and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. He said directions have been issued to the district administration, police, SDRF, and the health department to extend all necessary support to the victims.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sorrow, stating that the government stands firmly with the affected families and is ensuring that all required assistance is provided.
