Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, will inaugurate a series of dairy infrastructure and cooperative development projects in Ladakh on May 1, 2026. The event will be held at the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, marking a significant push toward strengthening rural livelihoods and the dairy sector in the region.
The programme will also be attended by Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Vinai Kumar Saxena.
During the event, Shah will lay the foundation stone for a 10 TLPD dairy plant in Kargil and inaugurate dairy processing units in Leh, including facilities for curd and paneer production. A Bulk Milk Cooler system will also be launched to improve milk storage and transportation, strengthening the cold-chain network in the region.
In a move to digitize cooperative operations, an Android-based Automated Milk Collection System (AMCS) will be introduced. The system aims to streamline milk procurement and ensure transparency in payments to dairy farmers.
Additionally, a mobile milk testing laboratory will be flagged off to enhance quality assurance at the grassroots level. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will also be signed to improve marketing and distribution of dairy products, boosting market access for local producers.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi,” focusing on cooperative-led growth, rural development, and economic empowerment in remote areas. Progressive dairy farmers from Ladakh will also be felicitated during the programme.
