Vande Bharat Express to Have Commercial Stoppage at Anantnag

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during a meeting with J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, announced a new commercial stoppage for the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag, aimed at boosting connectivity for commuters, tourists and traders in the region.

CM Omar Abdullah welcomed the decision, noting that the Vande Bharat service has redefined travel between Jammu and Srinagar by cutting travel time and improving comfort. He also highlighted the railway network's growing role in boosting the local economy through smoother movement of freight, including fruits such as cherry and apple, reducing logistics costs and opening larger markets for local farmers and traders.

Railway Minister Vaishnaw reiterated the government's commitment to the development of J&K, saying the Anantnag stoppage reflects the approach of tailoring infrastructure to local aspirations.
