National Tourism Awards: Srinagar Airport bagged Best Airport Award

Srinagar: Airports Authority of India`s Srinagar International Airport, J&K has been bestowed with the prestigious National Tourism Awards 2015-16.The award for Best Airport under (rest of India) category (other than class X cities) was conferred to Shri Rakesh Kalra, Regional Executive Director- Northern Region, Delhi and Airport Director, Srinagar Airport, Shri Sharad Kumar in a glittering ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the occasion of World Tourism Day on 27th September, 2017.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry annually in recognition of their performance towards comprehensive development of tourism in the country.  It is the first time that Srinagar airport has been felicitated with this prestigious award as best airport for extending outstanding contribution to the tourism sector by delivering unique travel experiences, innovative style of functioning, pro-environment initiatives and passenger friendly approach in spite of disturbance in Kashmir Valley.

AAI, Srinagar International Airport has always been exceptional contributor and the front runner in providing best of the services to passengers for making its airports customer friendly and also to promote healthy competition to endorse the tourism of India.

The achievements of AAI, its Airport team members with all stakeholders who have delivered quality service at the Airport are important to keep the India’s Tourism Sector on an upward growth track. These awards not only recognize AAI`s commitment towards safer air travel but also bring more responsibility towards its future initiatives.

Airport Director Sh. Sharad Kumar while speaking to media persons after the function informed that Srinagar Airport has been ranked 2nd Best Airport in the world in the 2.5 MPPA category in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards given incessantly by the Airports Council International (ACI) in Quarter I (Jan-17 to Mar -17) & Quarter –II (April-17 to June-17). APD, SIA dedicated this award to the people of Kashmir at large. He thanked the whole State Government, Administration under the Hon’ble Chief Minister for always being supportive and creating conducive environment for growth, development of Civil Aviation in Kashmir state.
