Srinagar, Jan 26 : There was no relief to chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and hardline HC chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani as they have been put under house arrest while Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik remained lodged in central jail, Srinagar since January 19.
Official sources said on Friday that the restrictions on separatist leaders were imposed to maintain law and order following a call by them to hold demonstrations after Friday prayers.
A spokesman for the HC said paramilitary force and state police personnel arrived at Nigeen house of Mirwaiz on Thursday evening, who was later informed that he has been put under house arrest. He cannot leave till further orders, Mirwaiz was informed.
