Dozen suffer pellet injuries in Shopian clashes, Locals allege ransacking, thrashing

SHOPIAN: More than a dozen protesting civilians sustained pellet injuries during a clash that erupted in Heff Shirmal area of Shopian District after forces cordoned off the area to carry a search operation.

Reports said that the injured persons have been shifted to different hospitals in Zainapora, Pulwama and Anantanag.

Locals also alleged that during house to house search operation forces went berserk in and thrashed dozens of civilians, including womenfolk to pulp. They said that the forces also thrashed family members of militants besides ransacking their houses.

Reports said that two youth identified as Mairaj Ahmad Ganai and Khushal Hamid were also arrested by forces.

Pertinently, forces had cordoned Heff Shirmal area after input about the presence of militants.
