Probe killings of Hurriyat activists by unknown gunmen: Ahsan Untoo urges UJC, JK Govt

‘These incidents fraught with dangerous consequences can trigger civil war in Kashmir’

Srinagar (PR): Chairman  International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR) Muhammad Ahsan Untoo while strongly condemning the killing of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president for Shopian Hafizullah Mir by unidentified gunmen and urged United Jehad Council chief Syed Salahudin and the government including police top brass to identify who these unidentified gunmen are. Untoo said that the killings of Hurriyat activists are fraught with dangerous consequences and can lead to civil war in Kashmir.

In a statement to KPS, the Chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights said that killing is not the first one and such killings have been taking place in Kashmir since long. “Mir was recently released after serving two years in Jail under PSA. He has three daughters and a wife. How can they survive and who will respond to their queries as to who killed their father and why he was killed,” Untoo said.

The chairman IFJHR said that there are two guns in Kashmir— one of militants and another of the government forces. “So it’s high time that the UJC starts investigations as to who killed Mir. Similarly let government come up with facts who is behind Mir’s killing,” he said.” Is that Mir was killed in a revenge for those killed by militants for being as informers”

He said the fresh trend of killing of Hurriyat activists by unknown gunmen can trigger a civil war in Kashmir and situation can really go out of control
