DSEK announces ‘First Serve’ facility to persons with special needs in all offices, schools of Department
Srinagar, Dec 03 : Announcing the “First Serve” facility to the persons with special needs in all the offices and schools of the Department, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo has said that 22525 specially abled students are enrolled in Government and recognized private schools of the Kashmir Division and special emphasis is being laid on their education and providing them with other facilities.
DSEK announced this special step of the Department in an event organized at GHSS Kothibagh on the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disability.
Dr. Itoo assured of issuing a circular regarding “First Serve” and make all the officers to comply with the directions. DSEK said that this step is being taken to add to the dignity of these special persons and empowering them.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Secretary Social Welfare Farooq Ahmad Lone said that the Social Welfare Department is committed to provide scholarships, pension and public transport facilities to the specially-abled persons.
Secretary also appreciated the work of Zaiba Aapa School of Inclusive Education for their contribution towards the children with special needs.
The specially-abled children from Zaiba Aapa School presented many duas which were loved by the audience. The event was organized by Directorate of School Education Kashmir in collaboration with Humanity Welfare Organization HELPline (NGO).
It is pertinent to mention here that the International Day for the Specially-abled persons is being observed on 3rd of December every year and theme of this year is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”
Joint Director Abid Hussain, Chief Education Officer Srinagar Mudasir Kaleem Fazili, Javaid Ahmad Tak, President Zaiba Aapa school, principals from various higher secondary schools of Srinagar, teachers, students and a large number of specially-abled persons were also present on the occasion.
