At least 72 insurgents killed in Afghanistan security forces raids
Ghazni City, Pajhwok, Dec 5 At least 72 Taliban insurgents have been killed in raids carried out by Afghanistan security forces in three districts of southern Ghazni province, an official has said.
Afghan and foreign forces conducted air-and-ground operations in Nawa, Gilan and Khogyani districts late Monday night, where Taliban received huge fatalities, Provincial Governor Spokesman Mohammad Arif Noori said on Tuesday, a report Afghanistan Times said.
While 20 militants were killed in Nawa district, 40 others were neutralised in Gilan district, he said. In addition, three vehicles, five motorcycles and several weapons belonging to rebels were also destroyed during the overnight raids.
In Kadi area of Khogyani district, 12 insurgents were killed in foreign forces’ airstrike on Tuesday morning, he added.
Though the Taliban group confirmed airstrikes on its fighters, it rejected figures. It only admitted to killing nine Taliban members.
