Baramulla, March, 23: In order to review the arrangements for upcoming Digi Dhan Mela to be observed on 29th of March, a meeting of officers of various departments was today held at Dak Bunglow Baramulla with district Development Commissioner Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash In chair. Meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joint Director Planning, Deputy District election officer,Lead bank officer, representatives of various financial and telecom institutions besides officers from line Departments.
District Development Commissioner stressed upon the officers to coordinate and cooperate with each other so that the Mela is smoothly conducted. He also urged the bank representatives to work with vigor and enthusiasm in creating awareness among the masses regarding the benefits of cashless transaction. It was informed that Additional Deputy Commissioner and Joint Director Planning have been designated as nodal officers of the event.
While highlighting the role of various financial institutions in the overall socio- economic development, the DDC said that the Mela is being observed across the country as part of the cashless economy initiative. He also informed that in the upcoming Mela some VIPs from the union government are going to participate.
