JKPA Demands Shifting of JDID’s Office to Partap Park Area
Urges Govt to Release Broadband Facility to Media Houses
Srinagar (PR): The Executive Members of Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) held an emergency meeting under the Chairmanship of GH Kaloo today and discussed issues confronting Media Houses in J&K in general and Kashmir Valley in particular.
It was felt with great concern that continued blockade of Broadband facility right from 5th August, 2019 has placed Media Houses in a quandary. No doubt, the DIPR provided internet facility at Hotel Sarovar first and then at Pologround, but the Journalists have been facing umpteen hardships due to overcrowding and low speed. Hence releasing Broadband facility to Media Houses has become unavoidable and urges the government to lift the blockade immediately to enable Journalists to perform their professional obligations freely at their respective offices.
Moreover, the placement of Joint Director Information’s (JDID) office at Rambagh has been putting Media Houses to severe hardships. Travelling to the said location is not only cumbersome but sometimes impracticable due to traffic congestion. Therefore, shifting of the said office in the neighborhood of Press Enclave is highly desirable to render movement of Editors to the said office hassle-free. Besides the release of payment on account of advertisements is pending for the last four months, which has brought Media Houses face to face with severe financial hardships and as such the Director DIPR is requested to release the same without any further procrastination.
