Govt to release pending liabilities of workers by Mar 31: Fin Min

Srinagar: As summer capital Srinagar is witnessing protests by government’s workers and contractors for releasing their wages and other pendencies, the finance minister Sunday said that the liabilities of all the agitating workers will be released by the month end.

While talking to KNS, state Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu said that the liabilities of many workers have already been cleared.

“By March 31, we will release the amount due to the other workers. We have already cleared the liabilities of casual labourers,” Drabu told KNS.

Many casual and daily labourers associations have holding protesting from the last two weeks in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk area demanding release of their wages pending from many months.

The PHE daily wagers said that their monthly wages have not been released from the past seven months.

The finance minister said that the government is well aware about the genuine grievances of all the workers and their wage releasing demand will be fulfilled soon.

Last week, the workers of Shakshar Bharat Mission of Education department also held protests on March 23 for their wages and regularisation.

Anganwari workers and helpers yesterday protested for their demands including release salary pending from “past two years”.

The contractors also protested today at the office of Chief Engineer PHE for release of their liabilities.
