Forest Protection Force strikes during night  in Baramulla

Seizes 100 CFT Illicit timber and two vehicles and arrests four smugglers.

SRINAGAR: In a major successful anti smuggling operation in District Baramulla Forest Protection Force seized huge quantity of illicit timber and arrested smugglers also.

As per reports,based on specific inputs personnel of Forest Protection Force Baramulla led by Manmeet Singh(Assistant Director FPF) set up night nakas at various places on Baramulla_Srinagar National Highway .At around 1:00 pm in the night two suspiciously moving vehicles were signaled to stop near Kanispora. Checking of the vehicles(Chota Haathi bearing reg No JK05 D 5337 ) led to seizure of 148 nos of  100CFT illicit sawn  timber of Deodar and also four smugglers were arrested on the spot who were escorting the vehicle in a Sumo bearing Reg No JKO1 G 5570 which was also seized.The entire operation was overall led by Deputy Director Forest Protection Force Baramulla DP Singh who while talking on phone to this reporter said” We are right now interrogating the arrested smugglers and case FIR is being lodged against them.”

Meanwhile Joint Director Forest Protection Force Kashmir Irfan Ali Shah has congratulated the special FPF  naka team for the successfull operation.He while talking phone said “I  appeal to the local people of Baramulla to help us  in destroying the timber mafia in Baramulla.We promise to reward any person suitably who will inform us about smugglers.His identity shall be kept secret.”
