Maintain robust relations for secure, prosperous world, President tells trainee IFS officers
New Delhi, June 6 :President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday told IFS Officer Trainees of 2017 batch that their job in the world of diplomacy was to maintain robust relations with partners and friends for secure, peaceful and prosperous world.
Addressing the trainees who called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here, Mr Kovind said that in their next course of training, each trainee was assigned a foreign country to learn a foreign language. ‘But my advise to you is to learn as many languages as you can, which can open a new world for you in the world of diplomacy.’
He asked the young trainees to take forward the fact that India was fast spreading its global footprint in taking a lead in peace, security and climate change issues.
‘Economic diplomacy is a priority for us and young officers must look for new technology, boost to economic growth and raising productivity,’ he said.
Wishing them success, he asked them to give back to the society and uphold the principles of integrity and probity at all times.
The trainee officers were led by Union Secretary in Ministry of Economic Affairs Vijay Gokhale and Dean of Foreign Services Institute JS Mukul.
