Plus Two Lecturers Association hold meeting; discuss issues
Srinagar: An emergency meeting of the Core Committee of the All J & K +2 PSC Lecturers’ Association was held today on Saturday in Srinagar, presided over by Nayeem Ahmad Parrey.
The meeting was convened in the backdrop of the news reports about large number of vacant posts of Chief Education Officers and DIET Principals and Principals of Higher Secondary Schools.
There are 6 CEO and 7 DIET Principal posts and large number of Higher Secondary Principal posts vacant and the field department is almost on the crutches. The members expressed deep concern over the grave scenario. On one had the higher ups expect the schools to perform better and impart quality education and on the other had the authorities are not interested in filling up the vacant positions at different levels. The field department has been marred by large scale inchargism and adhocism. The +2 cadre is the worst hit cadre due to complete stagnation, inchargism, non-framing of combined seniority list and placement of Sr. lecturers from years together. In such a dismal scenario expecting quality education seems a distant dream. After threadbare discussion on emergent situation, the authorities were humbly requested to pay attention to the grave situation in the department. The vacant positions of Principals, CEOs and JDs be filled up on priority basis. The process of regularization of Incharge Officers at different levels be speeded up and completed in a time bound manner under Rules. The lecturers awaiting placement from 5 years be placed as Sr. Lectures and other demands viz granting of ACP/Running Grade, restoration of Higher Education Quota, revisit to SRO 202 and NPS be considered on priority basis to infuse a fresh lease of life in the cadres.
