Fraudsters Exploit LG Office Connection to Deceive, Intimidate Kashmiris
A shocking scam involving fraudsters claiming false connections with the Lieutenant Governor’s (LG) Office has been uncovered in Kashmir.
These individuals have been exploiting public trust, offering fake promises of government jobs and other services, while intimidating locals under the pretense of having significant influence in the LG Office.
A viral video clip, circulating on social media, shows a man named Ejaz Ghazi boasting about his frequent invitations to the LG Office (Raj Bhavan) and claiming to have the power to provide jobs and assist with other services. Ghazi, a singer by profession, is seen asserting that he no longer accepts invitations from the LG Office due to his elevated status.
This claim has raised serious concerns among the public, especially after it was revealed that Ghazi had previously used false information to manipulate security forces and the forest department into conducting raids at the homes of press employees over alleged debt collection.
In the wake of this scandal, social media users have expressed shock and disbelief, calling for a thorough investigation into how the reputation of the prestigious LG Office is being exploited for personal gain. Ghazi’s claims are further complicated by his use of a photo with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, which he posted on social media and used as his profile picture, misleading people into believing that he has high-level access to the LG Office.
Locals are now demanding urgent action, with many calling for an immediate inquiry into Ghazi's activities. Similar complaints are also being raised about another individual, Bilal Ahmad from Hoolbari Angan. Ahmad, who once ran a canteen at the Civil Secretariat, is accused of continuing his fraudulent activities by exploiting people under the guise of connections with the Governor’s Office. Reports suggest that Ahmad pressures people to pay money for jobs and other services, using threats and intimidation to silence his victims.
Residents have also pointed out that several such individuals, operating from secure locations like government-affiliated hotels, extort money from the public, promising jobs or other favors, only to vanish once they have collected payments.
The public has called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to launch a comprehensive investigation into these scams, urging authorities to take strict action against those misusing their alleged connections with the LG Office.
