Srinagar Police Raze ₹2-Crore Property of Alleged Drug Peddler in Rainawari, Recover Encroached State Land
Srinagar, June 4, 2026
In a decisive strike against the narcotics trade, Srinagar Police on Thursday demolished a three-storeyed residential structure worth approximately ₹2 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the Rainawari area of the city, as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign across Jammu and Kashmir.
The action was carried out in coordination with the Revenue Department following completion of all legal formalities and verification procedures, with Revenue officials present during the demolition.
The structure belonged to Sheikh Tasaduq, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari. The accused faces multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act — FIR No. 112/2019 at Police Station Awantipora and FIR No. 81/2023 at Police Station Budgam. His spouse is also named in a separate NDPS case at Police Station Pulwama.
Investigations established that the concrete structure was built on encroached State land and allegedly raised using proceeds from narcotics trafficking. The demolition simultaneously resulted in the recovery of government land that had remained under unauthorised occupation.
Police stated the action is part of a wider strategy to target drug-linked assets and dismantle the financial infrastructure sustaining the narcotics trade in the region.
