MP Er Rashid ends Hunger Strike in Tihar Jail
The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Sunday said that its president and incarcerated Member of Parliament, Engineer Rashid, concluded a 24-hour hunger strike inside Tihar Jail, which he observed from 8:00 PM on June 28 to 8:00 PM on June 29. According to the party, the strike was intended to highlight the plight of political prisoners and the ongoing denial of democratic rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
Inam Un Nabi, Chief Spokesperson of AIP, while addressing the media, expressed gratitude to members of civil society, human rights defenders, students, and concerned citizens who stood in solidarity with Engineer Rashid.
“We are thankful to all who visited our party office or reached out in support. Every gesture matters and reinforces that the collective conscience of our society is still alive,” he said.
He added that the show of support not only boosted the morale of the party but also signaled growing awareness around the issues faced by Engineer Rashid and other political detainees.
“We urge all democratic voices across the nation to break their silence and demand justice, democracy, and the immediate release of all political prisoners from Jammu & Kashmir, including MP Engineer Rashid,” he said.
