Secretary of Society for Art and Literature Laments Exclusion of Telangana Ads from Kashmiri Newspaper

The Secretary of the Society for Art and Literature has expressed dismay over the “exclusion” of recent Telangana-related advertisements from Kashmiri-language newspapers, despite the ads being circulated in all other publications.

He said the move reflects a disregard for the Kashmiri language press and urged the authorities to ensure equal treatment for all media outlets.
Terming it a clear case of “step-motherly treatment” towards the Kashmiri language, he urged the authorities to end such discrimination and ensure parity for the local language press.

He further appealed that such omissions should not be repeated in the future, stressing that the promotion and respect for Kashmiri language is integral to preserving the region’s cultural identity.

“In the past we have seen that information department failed to pay due attention to Kashmiri language newspaper and recent exclusion of the Kashmir newspaper, more importantly the lone surviving newspaper, the Kehwat, from the Telangana-related advertisement is actually the failure on part of the concerned department to achieve the desired result and target,” the Secretary added.
